It seems like forever since I last wrote....and it was! It was over a year ago! What has happened since? Well, in my last post, I mentioned a little foster boy we had. He left in December, which took us some getting used to. After that, we didn't get another call until April/May for a little baby girl. We had her for a month. She was so precious!! After she left, social services didn't call until last week asking if we could take anther baby girl. This one is a newborn. It breaks my heart that she is already in foster care and only weeks old....I can only pray that God protects her wherever she might end up in life. So many people I talk to, when they find out we do foster care, immediately say, "oh that would be too hard for me...I would get too attached and then they would have to leave and it would just break my heart." or something along those lines. Yes, it is hard, but it is so worth it. Those poor children NEED someone who will love them and care for them. They have been through heaven knows what, and all they need is someone who will love them and care for them. We aren't doing this for ourselves. Goodness, if we were thinking about ourselves, we never would have thought about doing this. We are thinking about the children. They need to be loved and cared for, and they need to hear about Jesus.
Ok, I did not decide to write just to ramble on about foster care. I wanted to write because next week I will be embarking on a new adventure: college! I am so excited to see where God takes me on this next stage in life! I am attending a little Bible school out in the middle of nowhere for a year, then attending the state college to pursue music. I am anxiously looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me, and I pray that I will have the strength to follow Him, wherever He takes me. My brother went to this Bible school a few years ago and loved it. I can't wait to see what it will be like to be out on my own, and what dorm life will be like, and what I will learn, and what friends I will make. This school is also a wilderness school, so about three weeks into the school year, we all go on a week-long backpacking trip. We will learn how to survive in the wilderness, and draw closer to God's nature. I have visited the school a few times, and when you're out there, you feel so close to God. It is so amazing!
This summer has flown by so quickly. I started another job right after graduating, so with those two jobs I have been working four days a week. I have also been teaching music over the summer as well, which I did on the other day. At one point, I had seven students. One left, however, then her sister left too, so now I'm down to five. Three are piano and two are violin.
One of my brothers got married this summer! They had it in our backyard. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple to get married. It was perfect. Not too sunny, not too windy, not too hot, not too cool.
I had a nephew born on Easter, and I have a niece dew next week. This will be #14 for me! So far there are nine boys and four girls. I am so happy!
God has blessed me so much this year. He has given me health, a new nephew, a new sister-in-law, new friends, the financing for school, and soon to be a new niece. I am so thankful to Him! There have been trials along the way, but He has been faithful. I lost the last two grandparents I had within two months of each other the beginning of the year. And it was very close to the two year anniversary of my best friend's death. It was a very emotional time for me. One of the blessings during that time was being able to accompany the high school choir again for the second year. I love it so much! It is great experience, and something I love doing. It also helped pay for school this year. I made it to state with three songs! I sang with a group of girls for one, accompanied on piano for one, and accompanied on violin for the other. It was great. I got to meet some great friends and get to know some others better. For the first time, I regretted being a senior. I was just getting into it and making new friends, and now I'm leaving. But I can't wait to see where I'll end up. :)
Well, I still have to work tomorrow (it's my last day!) so I better get to bed. I might have to get up in the night with the baby...
Soli Deo Gloria!
